Risk and Emergency Management
Risk and Emergency Management can affectively use Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to determine the effects on people, property and the environment. Likewise, these geographic tools can be used to model natural hazards, map floodplains, and determine high-risk population locations. Geospatial tools can also be used in the insurance field to determine the density of claims based on type, the amount to charge as a premium, and the risk of a hazard for a particular area.
